The overall objective of the project is to evaluate and promote new and innovative methods of organizing marginal irregular laborer to eliminate their environment and barriers as a means of promoting organized and effective bargaining in accordance with labor laws, regional integration and fair rights of workers by creating a participatory regional platform.
To prepare a list of irregular workers engaged in white fish, shrimp farming and shrimp processing, jute farming, food processing industries using digital questionnaire survey, group formation, know about labor laws through lawyers in order to reduce workers abuse physically and mentally in the field of work, they can be organized and raised as skilled workers through various trainings and exchange their experiences with workers from other countries through online zoom calls.
The project is being implemented in 7 Asian countries including Narayanganj and Khulna Divisions of Bangladesh. Increase the bargaining power of informal workers by raising voices their demands. Empower Informal Workers. Coordinate industry owners and workers to work together for peaceful development in a democratic manner. Above all "Global Labor Program" (GLP) project aims to increase the status of temporary workers in Khulna Division , work for recognition and improve the standard of living in developing countries innovative activities and project implementation to maintain regional solidarity of labor workers in 7 Asian countries including Bangladesh.
The Global Labour Program - Platform for Organising Workers for Empowerment and Recognition (GLP-POWER) aims to promote innovative methods for enhancing solidarity, inclusion, and visibility of workers' causes. This initiative focuses on assessing and promoting new and innovative modes of organizing marginalized informal/precarious workers to enhance their agency, effective bargaining power, regional solidarity, inclusion, and visibility.
The CONNECT online platform, which includes a web portal and mobile app, has evolved through a participatory process involving informal workers. This platform provides informal and precarious workers a safe space to share, exchange, collaborate, and work towards problem-solving. It offers an accessible civic space and psychosocial support, enhancing inclusion.
Program envisage that the CONNECT platform will help increase the bargaining power of informal workers, enabling them to access fair and decent work, thereby affirming their life and dignity.
